Final Score: Mets 10, Nationals 1 — Byrd hits two home runs, Wright hits one, Mets win a laugher

The Mets hit three home runs and beat the Nationals with ease.

Rob Carr

The Mets took advantage of the fact that Dan Haren is not what he used to be and jumped out to an early lead that they never relinquished. Marlon Byrd hit a two-run home run in the second, David Wright hit a two-run home run in the third, and Byrd hit a solo shot in the fourth. They tacked on five more runs in the game, three of which were driven in by Anthony Recker.

Dillon Gee made his second straight excellent start, allowing just one run in seven innings with seven strikeouts and just one walk. Greg Burke and Robert Carson pitched a scoreless inning apiece to wrap up the victory.
