The American League defeated the National League in the All-Star Game at Citi Field this evening. So ends the National League's streak of winning the contest.
Before all of that, though, Matt Harvey threw a pair of scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing just one hit and no walks. His strikeout victims were Miguel Cabrera, Jose Bautista, and Adam Jones. And David Wright, the Mets' other representative in the game, went 1-for-3 with a single.
The AL scored its runs in relatively unexciting fashion. Bautista hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, a run scored on a J.J. Hardy ground out in the fifth, and Jason Kipnis doubled in the eighth to plate the league's final run.
