Final Score: Diamondbacks 5, Mets 4 — Another miserable extra-innings loss

The Mets lost to the Diamondbacks in fifteen miserable innings.

USA TODAY Sports

In their tenth extra-inning game of the season, the Mets lost to the Diamondbacks in fifteen innings. Several hours ago, Dillon Gee threw seven very good innings, allowing two runs while striking out seven and walking just two.

The Mets scored a run in the fourth inning, Arizona scored two in the top of the fifth, and Gee drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the fifth. Neither team scored again until the thirteenth inning, but after Arizona scored a run in the top of that inning, Anthony Recker hit a home run to tie the game in the bottom half. Arizona scored another run in the fourteenth, but Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a solo home run to tie the game in the bottom of that inning. Finally, though, Arizona plated a run in the fifteenth, and the Mets could not answer in the bottom half and lost the game.

It was miserable.
