Around the NL East

The Braves won their 9th in a row, as they defeated the Phillies 5-4 in 12 innings. The Phillies have now lost 12 of 14 games after the All-Star break and the Good Phight wonders if they should just tank the rest of the season for a good draft pick. Ruben Amaro Jr says "NEVER"!

Dan Haren looked good as the Nationals shut out the Brewers 3-0. Ross Detwiler's season may be finished.

The Marlins fell to the Indians 4-3.

Around the Majors

MLB is done negotiating with Alex Rodriguez and they will reportedly ban him through the 2014 season on Monday.

Matt Garza, he of this stupid facial hair, called out Athletics' infielder Eric Sogard on Twitter after he had words for him during the game earlier in the day. Garza also called out Sogard's wife.

MLB has teamed up with the US Forest Service to try to curb its broken bat problem. I hope Smokey The Bear is working on the case.

The A's have acquired old friend Fernando Nieve from the Indians for cash considerations.
