SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

GAME ONE: SAVANNAH 1, HAGERSTOWN 6

GAME TWO: SAVANNAH 6, HAGERSTOWN 2

After getting last night off, the Sand Gnats and the Suns will go back out it, fighting for South Atlantic League supremacy. Savannah might have a trump card, as their ace, Gabriel Ynoa will be taking the mound tonight, with Steven Matz' electric arm to follow on Friday and the quietly solid Jake Kuebler on Saturday, if necessary (Kuebler is also Alex Gordon's cousin- not relevant, but worth mentioning). Ynoa was masterful during the regular season, winning the SAL Most Outstanding Player Award. In his one playoff start, against the Augusta GreenJackets, Ynoa pitched 7.2 strong innings, allowing only two runs late in the game. Opposing Ynoa will be, as of right now, will be Kylin Turnbull. Turnbull, the Washington Nationals' 4th round draft pick in 2011, went 6-5 in the regular season, with a 3.58 ERA, 16 walks, and 67 strikeouts in 83 innings. The 23-year-old Oregonian lefty pitched five shutout innings against the Kannapolis Intimidators in Hagerstown's previous playoff series. He features a fastball that sits in the low ‘90s with a decent splitter and a fringy slider.

And with that, this is the last Daily Farm Report from me for the year. I just want to take the time to thank everyone for reading, for commenting, for pointing out my horrible math, for pointing out that batters are people too, and everything else. I know I enjoyed this Minor League Baseball season, and I look forward to bringing you reports next season.
