The Mets lost to the Brewers this evening in the first of a four-game set, the last series of the season. Dillon Gee gave up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings, and the Mets weren't able to come back from there. The Brewers scored all four of their runs in the second inning.
A Daniel Murphy ground out in the third put the Mets on the board with a run, but they didn't score again until Josh Satin hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the ninth inning. Tim Byrdak, David Aardsma, and Frank Francisco threw a scoreless inning apiece in relief of Gee, not that it really mattered.
The most important part of the game was that David Wright left after he was hit in the helmet by an errant Johnny Hellweg pitch in the third inning. He walked off under his own power and looked fine, but here's hoping there are no ill effects.
