As has been the case many times this season, the Mets were out-homered in a game, 3-0, as they fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 on Friday night. Carlos Torres got the ball and was victimized in the first inning, as Norichika Aoki led off the game with a solo shot and Khris Davis followed later in the inning with a two-run shot.
With a lineup that didn't feature David Wright, that deficit was too much to overcome against the Brewers former ace, Yovani Gallardo. The right-hander allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings with one walk and six strikeouts. The Mets cut it to 3-2 in the sixth, and had Travis d'Arnaud up with the bases loaded but the rally was cut short after Daniel Murphy attempted to score on a psuedo-wild pitch and was thrown out.
The Brewers tacked on a run in the seventh with a Martin Maldonaldo homer, and the Brewers bullpen held the Mets off the board the rest of the way.
