The Mets beat the Brewers 3-2 on the final day of the 2013 season. Jon Niese allowed two runs in the fourth and nothing else in six innings, but the Mets had just one run in that time and trailed when he left the game.
Down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth, the Mets took advantage of a series of defensive mistakes by Milwaukee to turn the one-run deficit into a one-run lead. The Brewers basically played a Little League level of defense in the frame.
With the lead in hand, Terry Collins trolled us all by sending out Frank Francisco for the ninth inning. He threw a perfect inning to notch the save and preserve the Mets' 74th win. With that, the 2013 Mets have the same record that the 2012 Mets had.
