Final Score: Indians 8, Mets 1 — Kazmir dominates, Mets pitching does not

Scott Kazmir struck out twelve Mets in six excellent innings, and Zack Wheeler wasn't nearly as dominant as the Mets lost.

The Mets were blown out by Cleveland this evening in the first game of a three-game series. Zack Wheeler didn't have a great night, but he managed to allow three runs in five innings despite issuing five walks and striking out three.

Scott Kazmir, however, had a really great night. In six innings, he struck out twelve, walked none, and gave up just four hits. It was one of his better starts of the year.

Cleveland tacked on a run in the sixth inning against Gonzalez Germen, and an eighth-inning grand slam by Nick Swisher turned a not-so-close game into a laugher.

The Mets scored their lone run of the game on a bomb of a solo home run by Justin Turner in the seventh.
