Mets starting pitcher Carlos Torres got rocked and the Mets' offense managed just three baserunners in a meaningless September blowout loss. Torres allowed four home runs in four brutal innings of work, departing with the Nationals ahead 6-0. Zach Lutz broke up Nats starter Gio Gonzalez's no-hit bid in the seventh inning with a leadoff single. Gonzalez completed the shutout, striking out eight and walking two.

Denard Span and Ryan Zimmerman hit back-to-back home runs to start the game, while Jayson Werth hit a three-run home run in the third inning and Tyler Moore added a solo shot in the fourth inning. Greg Burke gave up a three-run bomb to Wilson Ramos in the fifth inning, which put the Nats up 9-0.
