The Mets have made a couple of promotions within their front office, as they named Ian Levin director of minor league operations and T.J. Barra manager of baseball research and development. Jon Miller, who was the team's farm director, is set to leave the organization at the end of the year.

Before the promotions, Levin was the team's manager of baseball analytics, while Barra was manager of minor league operations and baseball information. Along with Joe Lefkowitz, both Levin and Barra were featured in a Times story about the Mets' analytics regarding the changes to Citi Field's fences this winter.

We spoke to Barra back in spring training about his role within the organization. In short, he and the rest of the analytics team are tasked with turning data into information that players and coaches can use.
