Mets Spring Training Recap: Nationals 5, Mets 4

Rafael Montero, Jacob deGrom, and Ike Davis stood out in the Grapefruit League opener.

The Mets opened the spring training schedule with a loss to the Washington Nationals. The first few innings went well, but a three-run lead turned into a one-run loss by the end of the game.

Pitching Summary

  • Rafael Montero started the game and threw two perfect innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
  • Jacob deGrom followed up with two perfect innings of his own with four strikeouts.
  • Erik Goeddel gave up a run in an inning of work on a Wilson Ramos double.
  • Miguel Socolovich threw a scoreless inning, but Adam Kolarek, Gonzalez Germen, and Jeff Walters gave up a run apiece in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.
