Meet the Mets

The Mets played real baseball again yesterday, as the they triumphed over the Braves by a score of 6-2. The Mets were able to smite the Evil Ones with a big two-run double off the bat of Cory Vaughn, but were led by the very impressive Noah Syndergaard. Terry Collins praised Syndergaard's appearance, saying that he's "on track to be special."

Both Mets first basemen sustained minor leg injuries on Monday; as Lucas Duda was sidelined with leg stiffness, and Ike Davis had some calf tightness. Both will reportedly be available tomorrow.

Mets legend Mike Piazza was back with the club on Monday, and will serve as a guest instructor for the week.

Jared Diamond says that the Mets should consider letting their young pitchers start the year in the bullpen.

Stephen Strasburg has some advice for Matt Harvey, suggesting that he not rush his rehab.

The new era of instant replay in baseball officially began yesterday, as the Blue Jays and Angels both got to use the new system to challenge close plays.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson became the talk of spring training, as he worked out with the Texas Rangers. Wilson also didn't rule out the idea of becoming a two-sport athlete.

Mariano Rivera was presented with the ROBIE award by the Jackie Robinson Foundation, specifically for his work in building a church in New Rochelle, NY.

Freddy Garcia has suggested that if he doesn't make the Major League roster for the Braves, he'll hang up his cleats.
