Meet the Mets

Bobby Parnell is headed to the DL after an MRI showed a partially torn MCL in his elbow. Clearly, that's a huge blow for the Mets' already shaky bullpen. Who is at fault for Parnell's injury, asks Andy Martino? Ken Davidoff says that the Mets can't let the injury paralyze their season. The Mets have called up Kyle Farnsworth and Wilmer Flores for tomorrow's game.

Matthew Cerrone wrote about the state of the Mets fanbase and about some of the in-fighting going on across some segments of the internet.

Speaking of Mets fans, some are upset that Daniel Murphy has gone on paternity leave. Apparently, only "woman" do that.

Toby Hyde went over the Las Vegas 51s roster, and it actually looks like a pretty interesting group of players.

The Savannah Sand Gnats released their Opening Day roster, and Savannah native John Gant will be in the team's starting rotation.

The Wall Street Journal made an unfortunate mistake in writing its headline yesterday. Oops.

Yesterday At AA

Matthew Callan says that yesterday's Opening Day seems very familiar and will become more routine if things don't change with the Mets' finances.

Around the NL East

The Phillies fired Ruben Amaro and hired a tandem of Larry Bowa and Dallas Green as co-General Managers. What a rough April 1st for Ruin Tomorrow Jr, amirite?

Nationals' catcher Wilson Ramos will have hamate bone surgery on his left hand and miss 4-8 weeks.

The Marlins have won two straight as they defeated the Rockies 4-3 yesterday.

Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman homered as the Braves defeated the Brewers 5-2.

Around the Majors

Ted Berg wrote about Bryce Harper, who is part of a new crop of MLB stars who like to have fun and show emotion while playing baseball. How dare they!

At Baseball Prospectus, Harry Pavlidis wrote about catcher pitch framing for the 2014 season and Travis d'Arnaud is projected to finish 10th among big league catchers in runs saved.

Dave Cameron wrote about early season velocities.

Jose Reyes has mild inflammation in his hamstring and should be back relatively soon.

If you're interested in proposing to that special someone at a big league baseball game, it's going to cost you some money to do so. Well, except at Citi Field that is. That's not allowed.
