Final Score: Braves 3, Mets 1—Swept out of Atlanta

Jacob deGrom gave up three runs in the first, and the Mets never came back.

Scott Cunningham

The Mets lost to the Braves this evening, completing a sweep at the hands of their division rivals. Jacob deGrom gave up three runs in the first inning after nearly escaping a bases-loaded jam, and with Julio Teheran on the mound, Atlanta didn’t need any more than that.

deGrom and the Mets’ bullpen kept the Braves from scoring again, but the team managed just one run in the fourth inning and got on base just eight times in the game. That makes the Mets eleven games below .500 on the season and pretty well out of contention, even in the fairly weak National League East.
