The Phillies shutout the Mets 3-0 to complete the sweep of the three game series. Aside from Ruben Tejada and Michael Conforto, the Mets played a lineup of backups, setting themselves up to be blanked by Jeradd Eickhoff and several Phillies relievers. Sean Gilmartin carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning in his spot start for Steven Matz, but gave up a Jeff Francouer double with two outs. New Met Killer Darin Ruf then hit a two-run home run to give the Phillies all the runs they would need. Dario Alvarez later surrendered a home run to a righty, but he looked fine coming back from a groin injury.
The loss drops the Mets to a half game ahead of the Dodgers for home field advantage in the NLDS. Since they hold the tiebreaker, the lead is effectively one and a half games pending the result of LA's game against the Giants tonight.
