Meet the Mets
It looks as if Jacob deGrom will lead off the Mets' World Series rotation. Dan Warthen's done a great job of teaching his pupils. Steven Matz is impressing Terry Collins. Now deGrom has a sandwich named after him at the Se-Port Deli!
Yoenis Cespedes received a cortisone shot and will be ready to play on Tuesday, while Juan Uribe may or may not be on the Mets' roster, depending on who you believe.
Before he re-signed with the Mets, David Wright not only had to make Mets fans believers but his own family, too. Wright was confident and so was Terry Collins, who predicted this nearly a year ago. Collins is happy to get some time off.
How did the Mets get here? They came a long way and the MLB Draft was an enormous part. GM Sandy Alderson proved he's a fan at heart, celebrating with his players. Alderson spoke on the record about ownership's commitment and Terry Collins. The Post has a great look into the GM's mindset leading up to the Cespedes trade.
Kevin Long's tweaks and mindset change helped Daniel Murphy discover his power this season. Will the Mets' aggression in full counts this season work for or against them? Patience paid off with a trip to the World Series. Small ball helped them in the NLCS. And Jeurys Familia has put everything together this season.
Curtis Granderson transformed a Chicago school with a $5 million gift.
Travis d'Arnaud extended an impressive streak for his high school, which has had participants in the past three World Series. Should Matt Reynolds get into a World Series game, he'll make his own crazy history.
CA Congressman Adam Schiff sang "Meet the Mets" on the House floor recently. We also shared a highlight reel from MLB Network that might make you tear up. The Mets appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and then went to the Islanders game!
In case you weren't sure, the Mets have already won the R.A. Dickey trade by WAR.
Around the Playoffs
A thrilling 4-3 victory sends the Royals to the World Series to face our heroes and the Blue Jays back to Toronto.
Pete Rose sent social media ablaze during last night's rain delay with his words and not so subtle peering into the camera.
Around the Majors
The Marlins have a trio of candidates leading the charge for their manager job (along with the right to be the next former Marlins manager).
Meanwhile, the Nationals are giving Dusty Baker and Bud Black second interviews for their gig. That crying sound is coming from Stephen Strasburg's right arm.
So what if Angels in the Outfield was real and there was a 30 For 30 documentary made about it?
Which last place team this season will be playoff bound in 2016?
This Date In Mets History
Benny Agbayani helped the Mets win Game 3 of the Subway Series in 2000.
Yesterday At AA
The sweep of the Cubs was among the most dominant series in team history.
Ticket prices are skyrocketing, in case you're interested in heading out to Citi Field.
Could the Mets' World Series layoff be a good thing?
