Meet the Mets

Members of the Mets' front office participated in donating Thanksgiving meals to those in need as part of an event called Metsgiving. It was the second year in which the event was held.

Jon Heyman reported that the Mets are still interested in utilityman Ben Zobrist. He also reported that they may be interested in Denard Span and Gerardo Parra.

Bill Price listed ten things Mets fans should be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Highlights of the list include the Toronto Blue Jays, the team that dealt the Mets Travis d'Arnaud and Noah Syndergaard, and Keith Hernandez.

Around the NL East

The Braves signed veteran starting pitcher Bud Norris to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. Norris spent 2015 with the Orioles and Padres, and posted a 6.72 ERA over just 83 innings.

At Federal Baseball, Patrick Reddington looked back at Baseball America projections from 2012 that speculated what the Nationals lineup would look like in 2016. All in all, the results weren't that far off.

Marlins broadcaster Tommy Hutton was let go from his position. Apparently, Marlins' players did not appreciate his commentary. Also, the Marlins are exploring a contract extension for second baseman Dee Gordon.

Around MLB

The Blue Jays are not expected to be a major factor in the bidding for free agent pitcher David Price. The Cubs, Cardinals, Giants, Red Sox, and Dodgers are all showing interest in the left-hander.

For the second time in his career, Jed Lowrie was traded by the Astros to the Athletics. Lowrie became expendable for the Astros with the emergence of Carlos Correa.

Major League Baseball is exploring bringing baseball games to the United Kingdom. The games could happen as early as 2017.

The White Sox signed catcher Alex Avila to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. Avila spent 2015 with the Tigers and hit just .191/.339/.287.

The Cubs acquired relief pitcher Rex Brothers from the Rockies. In exchange, the Rockies received 18-year-old left-handed pitcher Wander Cabrera.

Yesterday at AA

Chris McShane continued season reviews with reliever Carlos Torres. After two solid seasons in 2013 and 2014, the 2015 season was not as kind to Torres.

In 1963, Ron Hunt became the first Met to garner votes for the Rookie of the Year Award. However, he did not receive the most votes, and Pete Rose won instead.
