Mets coat drive: Give a coat, get tickets to a 2016 Mets game

It's the time for giving, after all.

With the holiday season nearly upon us—and freezing weather on the horizon—the New York Mets are hosting their 10th annual "Warm Up" coat drive. The drive runs from 10 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday, December 1. Attendees can park in Lot G on 126th Street.

By donating a coat, fans will receive two tickets to an April home game at Citi Field (Opening Day isn't available), plus 15% off Mets merchandise at the Citi Field team store Tuesday.

Donated coats will go to New York Cares, the largest volunteer organization in the city, which runs programs for 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools. If you can't make it to Citi Field but still want to donate a coat, New York Cares has more than 280 locations at which to drop off a coat. The goal of the drive is to get 100,000 coats, which will go to roughly 60,000 homeless New Yorkers, more than a third of whom are children. So far, they're less than five percent to their goal.
