Mets trade rumors: Sandy Alderson 'can't see' trading a top starting pitcher

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said at a press conference today that he can't see the Mets trading one of their top starting pitchers. This implies that the Mets will enter 2016 with the same four pitchers they started in the postseason: Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, and Steven Matz.

While agent Scott Boras caused headlines this season by asserting that Harvey should be held to a strict innings limit in early September, the 26-year-old is under team control through the 2018 season, making it unlikely that the team would want to trade him.

All four pitchers lived up to expectations this year. deGrom had a 2.54 ERA and 2.70 FIP in 30 regular season starts. Harvey had a 2.71 ERA and 3.05 FIP in 29 starts in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. Syndergaard had a 3.24 ERA and 3.25 FIP in 24 starts after his promotion to the big leagues early in the season. And Matz had a 2.27 ERA and 3.61 FIP in six regular season starts.
