In 2015, for the first time in franchise history, the Mets were no-hit twice in one season. For this week's Mind Boggler, we're asking you to name every pitcher who's thrown a no-hitter against the Mets.
The seven no-hitters thrown in Major League Baseball in 2015 tied the modern era record set in 1990, 1991, and 2012. The all-time record for no-hitters in a season, set in 1884, is eight.
On June 1, 2012, Johan Santana threw the first and only no-hitter by a Mets pitcher. It came against the Cardinals in an 8-0 Mets win at Citi Field. In that game, Mike Baxter famously made an over-the-shoulder catch, crashing into the left field fence with one out in the seventh inning to preserve the no-no. Two innings later, Santana struck out David Freese on a full count to complete the feat.
