Not even the threat of rain could get in the way of the excitement in Port St. Lucie Friday morning, as Matt Harvey, for the first time since coming off Tommy John surgery, threw to hitters. Curtis Granderson, David Wright and Michael Cuddyer all took turns in the box, getting an up close look at the ace's progress, though they were not swinging at any of his pitches.
This is a big step in Harvey's return, as he is making significant strides, but more importantly, not having any setbacks. Harvey spoke to the media after throwing two sessions this morning, saying things like:
Harvey is scheduled to throw a live batting practice in the near future, before his first game against the Detroit Tigers on March 6.
