The Mets dropped a spring training game to the Rays this afternoon, as Bartolo Colon gave up five runs on seven hits in two innings of work. From there, the rest of the Mets' pitchers gave up three runs, with Hansel Robles giving up a run in the fourth and Matthew Bowman giving up two runs in the seventh.
Some notes:
- Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 in the game and is now hitting .462 in spring training games.
- Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 2-for-3 and seems to be locking up King Of Spring Training—and probably also the roster spot he seemed all but guaranteed to have coming into spring.
- Johnny Monell and Danny Muno had two hits apiece, too, and both are hitting over .400 in Grapefruit League play, too.
- Chasen Bradford, John Velasquez, Jack Leathersich, and Carlos Torres threw one scoreless inning each in the game.
