Meet the Mets

Yesterday was Matt Harvey's 26th birthday but it was also Harvey Day and he looked great again over 4.1 innings. The Mets ultimately lost to the Cardinals 5-4. It appears the Mets picked a perfect time to pitch Matt Harvey to their fans.

It's looking more and more likely that Daniel Murphy will hit the disabled list to open the season. It appears the Mets are well equipped to let Murphy walk at the end of the year or maybe even trade him in July. There is good news on Vic Black who threw off a mound today! Also, Bobby Parnell looks like he'll be ready to be activated off the DL in mid-April.

Alex Castellanos and Chasen Bradford were reassigned to minor league camp this morning. Anthony DiComo did his best to project the Mets Opening Day roster as of today.

Dan Warthen has made a slight tweak to Jeurys Familia's delivery in hopes of improving his ability to pitch up in the zone to retire lefthanded hitters.

Another "Sell The Team" billboard has gone up, this one near Citi Field.

Travis d'Arnaud talked with Mike Vorkunov about his influences, his big league brother, and his ties to the Phillies.

Around the NL East

Should Jordan Zimmermann give the Nationals a hometown discount?

Talking Chop wonders if Eric Young is an everyday player. I think we can answer that question.

Fish Stripes hypothesizes how a Marlins spelling bee would go.

Domonic Brown might start the season on the disabled list, which sounds bad but ... oh wait, Jeff Francoeur could replace him? Okay, yeah it's bad.

Around the Majors

John Sickels has a prospect retrospective of former Mets prospect and center fielder Angel Pagan.

The Blue Jays are scrapping pitcher's innings limits this year.

The one good thing about all of the Tommy John surgeries piling up around the big leagues is that they're not Rotator Cuff surgeries.

Bad news for Red Sox starting catcher Christian Vazquez after an MRI revealed "something" in his elbow.

Former Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey is being moved to the bullpen and he's not happy about it.

The White Sox claimed former top pitching prospect Kyle Drabek off waivers from the Blue Jays. He was a main piece of the Roy Halladay trade.

Home runs are "homers," not "dingers," "jacks," or "bombs" according to an update to the AP Stylebook. Over my dead body, that is.

Yesterday At AA

Dillon Gee might be better than we think he is, says Rob Castellano.

We updated you on the King of Spring Training race, which is coming down to the wire.

Do you remember Charlie Williams, who was traded for Willie Mays?

AA has teamed up with FanDuel! Neat!
