Final Score: Mets 4, Braves 3—Bartolo the best, Blevins pretty great, too

Bartolo was great, Cuddyer hit his first home run as a Met, and the Mets won.

The Mets beat the Braves 4-3 this afternoon, which puts them at 3-3 on the season as they prepare for tomorrow’s home opener against the Phillies at Citi Field. It was a fun game that included a broken-bat RBI single by Bartolo Colon as his helmet fell off his head. Colon pitched well, too. He gave up three runs in seven innings with five strikeouts and zero walks.

The Mets got their first two runs on a home run by Michael Cuddyer in the first inning. After the Braves tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the second, neither team scored until the aforementioned Colon single. Jonny Gomes tied the game again with a solo home run off Colon in the seventh, but a Daniel Murphy sacrifice fly in the eighth puts the Mets up for good. Carlos Torres, Jerry Blevins, and Jeurys Familia finished off the game without issue.
