The Mets beat the Phillies 6-1 this evening to complete a sweep of the lowly Philadelphia Phillies. With that and the Atlanta Braves' loss earlier today, that puts the Mets in a tie for first place in the National League East. Jon Niese started for the Mets and put together another cromulent start, as he threw six-and-one-third innings and gave up nine hits but allowed just one run. The relief pitchers Torres combined to prevent the Phillies from scoring the rest of the way.
At the plate, Travis d'Arnaud stood out, going 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season and scoring a couple of runs. Lucas Duda, Curtis Granderson, and Juan Lagares each had two hits in the game, too. It was a far less eventful game than last night's victory, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
