Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (4-5)_______________________________________

FRESNO 11, LAS VEGAS 10 (Box)

Ah, the first proper PCL game of the season really. The 51s battled back from an 8-3 deficit with a six-run sixth, only to see Duane Below give it back in the seventh with a pair of bombs. The teams combined for 30 hits, 11 extra-base hits, and five home runs. Viva Las Vegas!

  • CF Darrell Ceciliani: 0-6
  • 2B Dilson Herrera: 2-6, K
  • Kevin Plawecki: 3-5, RBI
  • 3B Wilfredo Tovar: 1-5, 2B, R, RBI, 2 E (2)
  • SS Matt Reynolds:2-5, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, K, E (1); This ship has sailed, but Matt Reynolds was such a good college third baseman, the Mets moved him to shortstop as a pro.
  • RHP Tyler Pill: 1.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 HR; Vegas has messed a bit with good prospects' numbers, but it has absolutely obliterated the org guys'
  • LHP Jack Leathersich 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K; 7 K and 0 BB in 3 IP this year. Meaningful? Probably not, but something worth monitoring.
  • RHP Chasen Bradford: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (6-3)_____________________________________

BINGHAMTON 8, HARRISBURG 7 (Box)

It was fireworks night at NYSEG stadium, and the B-Mets started the show early with a walkoff win. A three-run double from Jayce Boyd in the ninth bailed out a poor pitching performance from Gabriel Ynoa and the Binghamton bullpen. Other highlights include Aderlin Rodriguez's second home run of the year, which I assume went a very, very long way.

  • LF Jayce Boyd:2-5, 2B, 4 RBI, K
  • 3B Dustin Lawley:0-4, 2 K
  • 1B Aderlin Rodriguez: 2-3, HR (2), 2 R, RBI, BB; Looking forward to the Aderlin BP session next week more than anything else on my first trip of the year.
  • CF Brandon Nimmo: 1-3, R, 2 BB, 2 K; The Nimmo Classic
  • SS Gavin Cecchini: 1-4, 3 R
  • RHP Gabriel Ynoa: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 BB (?!), 2 K; Ynoa had never even walked four batters in a professional outing before last night, so I am going to assume this was a blip. The lack of Ks is less of a blip, and is more concerning.
  • RHP Beck Wheeler: 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (5-4)_____________________________________

FORT MYERS 7, ST. LUCIE 0 (Box)

Chih-Wei Hu outdueled Marcos Molina, and the less said about this game, the better.

    • CF Champ Stuart: 0-4, 4 K; The BP hot sheet jinx is in full effect
    • LF Michael Conforto: 0-4, 2 K
    • 1B Dominic Smith: 1-3, K, E (1)
    • SS Amed Rosario: 1-3, K
    • 3B Jhoan Urena: 0-3
    • RHP Marcos Molina: 5 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HR, E (1); Didn't anyone tell Molina and Ynoa I was on farm report duty today?
    • LHP Kyle Regnault: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, Balk; Indy ball signing was reportedly up to 95 from the left side. Hope that bird dog got a raise.

    Low-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (3-5)__________________________________

      CHARLESTON 4, SAVANNAH 3 (Box)

The Sand Gnats struck out 12 times against only six hits, that does not usually lead to offensive success.

    • RF Wuilmer Becerra: 0-4, 2 K
    • CF John Mora: 0-3, 2 K
    • DH Vicente Lupo: 1-3, RBI, K; I have a soft spot for Lupo, but DH is probably his natural position.
    • SS Luis Guillorme: 2-4, R; The only Savannah regular not to strike out, Guillorme is posting a 4:7 K:BB ratio in the very, very early going. Toby Hyde had more on Guillorme this week in his Top 41.
    • 3B Pedro Perez: 0-3, R, BB, 2 K, E (1)
    • Tomas Nido: 1-4, 2B, R, K
    • LHP Brad Wieck: 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K
    • RHP Jimmy Duff: 3 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K; No idea why Duff isn't in the rotation, wonder if he eventually transitions into some sort of a piggyback role.

    Star of the Night

Jayce Boyd and his walk-off heroics

    Goat of the Night

Very few rules around this place, but the golden sombrero gets you put down here, Champ Stuart.
