The Mets continued their furious start with a sweep of the Marlins for their eighth consecutive win. Matt Harvey wasn't perfect today, giving up four runs in six innings, but left the game with a big cushion, and grabbed the win. The Mets offense picked up all seven runs in a wild fourth inning, which was highlighted by a Ruben Tejada bases-clearing double.
Things got scary for the Mets late in the game, however, as Jerry Blevins, who gave up a run after replacing Matt Harvey in the seventh, was struck on the arm with a pitch. This later proved to be a broken forearm. The bullpen was shaky after that, as Buddy Carlyle gave up two more runs before Jeurys Familia came in to close things out.
The scariest moment for the Mets may have come in the bottom of the seventh, when Travis d'Arnaud was struck on the hand for a pitch. d'Arnaud was immediately removed, and replaced by Anthony Recker. The Mets later announced that d'Arnaud has a fractured hand and will see a specialist tomorrow.
Nice work by MetsFan4Decades; her work in the GameThread embiggens us all.
