The train just keeps on rolling. The Mets swept the Braves this afternoon to win their eleventh straight game. For those keeping track at home, that ties the club record for consecutive wins, and for the first time even they've swept a ten-game homestand.
Bartolo Colon had himself another nice outing, going six innings and giving up three earned runs. The runs weren't completely his fault, as Daniel Murphy misplayed a routine double play, which allowed the Braves to plate two later in the inning. It was an odd game for Murphy, who broke the game's scoring open with a bases-clearing double, and then tacked on another when he lined a Luis Avilan single for an RBI, but made a terrible mistake for a veteran player.
The story of this game is going to be the replays. There were three of them, and all of them were strange. The most notable involved a challenge on a call at the plate where Anthony Recker was said to have blocked the plate, despite the fact AJ Pierzynski slid in cleanly, and was tagged out. The overturned call gave the Braves their first run. The other two involved Bartolo Colon being called for being off the bag, and a play at first which was said to be late. None would burn the Mets, however, as they did what they had to do, and made it eleven in a row.
