The Mets' winning streak came to an end this evening in the Bronx, as they fell to the Yankees in the first game of a three-game series. Jacob deGrom had one of his worst starts of his major league career, as he allowed three home runs and six runs in five innings of work. The Mets couldn't get much going against Yankees starter Michael Pineda, either. So the team's winning streak ended at eleven and remains tied with four others for the longest in Mets history.
The Mets managed to score once later in the game, not that it really mattered. Sean Gilmartin, Hansel Robles, and Erik Goeddel threw a scoreless inning each in relief. It was Robles's major league debut, which is pretty neat.
