Mets pitcher Rafael Montero is headed to the disabled list with inflammation of his rotator cuff. Sandy Alderson has gone on the record saying the injury is "nothing serious."

Montero made his 2015 debut in a start against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, and was perfect through three innings before giving up a leadoff double to Dee Gordon in the fourth inning. In the sixth inning, Gordon hit a leadoff single and advanced to second after Granderson bobbled the ball. Martin Prado bunted Gordon to third, followed by an infield single from Marcell Ozuna and an RBI single by Jacob Realmuto. Montero finished the night with 5.2 innings, six strikeouts, one walk, and three earned runs.

Montero was optioned to Triple-A after the game, but because he was injured during a game in the majors, his option will be rescinded and he will receive major league time and credit during his time on the disabled list.
