For each of the past several years, we have run the Amazin’ Avenue charity pledge drive. It all got started when David Wright’s strikeout rate spiked a few years back, and we wanted to turn something bad into something good by tying pledges to a charity to each one of the third baseman’s strikeouts. Of course, things have always been open-ended, and the community here has come up with plenty of creative ideas—both good and bad for the Mets—for pledges.
In the past, we have had three recipients of these drives: Care, Doctors Without Borders, and City Harvest, all of which were well-deserving charities doing great work. We thought we would open the floor here to suggestions for the charity for the pledge drive this year. So if you have a suggestion, leave it in the comments below. We’ll comb through everything and produce a poll so we can choose this year’s recipient as a group.
