Final Score: Mets 2, Cardinals 1—Long after Harvey dominates, Mets win

Matt Harvey was great, and the Mets eventually won.

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Harvey threw eight scoreless innings, Jeurys Familia blew a save for the first time this season, and the Mets beat the Cardinals in fourteen innings. It was one of those games that felt like it would never end, but a win against the team with the best record in baseball is never a bad thing. There was a whole lot of good pitching and/or bad after the starting pitchers departed, though it's good to see the Mets' bullpen hold on for that long.

With the bases loaded in the fourteenth after an intentional walk by St. Louis, John Mayberry Jr. hit a ground ball to plate the game-winning run. #lovetheMets
