Triple-A - Las Vegas 51's (27-14)_______________________________________

Steven Matz's performance in the Pacific Coast League this year has been incredible, but Cashman Stadium eventually humbles us all. Matz surrendered two first inning home runs, and six runs overall. Of course he still got the win, because no lead is safe in the PCL.

  • OF Cory Vaughn: 2-4, 3B, R
  • 3B Daniel Muno: 2-3, 3B, HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB
  • 2B Wilfredo Tovar: 1-4, 2 K
  • SS Matt Reynolds: 1-4, 2 R, BB, K; We talk about Reynolds now like he is a better prospect than he is (I would guess mostly due to watching Wilmer Flores play SS), but a .784 OPS and > 20% K-rate isn't all that impressive in the PCL.
  • LHP Steven Matz: 6.1 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 2 HR; It's Vegas, sooner or later the house (stadium) wins. ERA ballooned all the way to 2.24 with this outing.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (22-18)_____________________________________

Luis Cessa got touched up in five-plus innings of work, and the B-Mets managed just two runs off someone (probably a member of the witness protection program) named Dakota Bacus. It was a sloppy affair at NYSEG Stadium, featuring eight errors between the two squads.

  • LF Jayce Boyd: 1-4
  • 3B Dustin Lawley: 2-4, 2B, R, E (9)
  • RF Jared King: 0-4
  • SS Gavin Cecchini: 1-3, BB, E (10); I don't get worked up about minor league error totals, but ten is alot before Memorial Day.
  • RHP Luis Cessa: 4.1 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K; So who had Hansel Robles as the best major leaguer of the 2012 Brooklyn rotation?

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (18-23)_____________________________________

Dillon Gee is probably too good for the Florida State League, but now the Mets have to decide if he is good enough to crack the major league rotation again.

REHAB ALERT: Dillon Gee made his second rehab start in St. Lucie, going six-and-a-third, surrendering three hits and striking out five. Probably can't kick the can any further down the road now. Vic Black relieved Gee and gave up two hits and a run in two-thirds of an inning.

Low-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (17-22)__________________________________

Casey Meisner followed up Brad Wieck's double-digit strikeout game with one of his own, and the Gnats scraped together enough offense to beat Rome.
