Final Score: Pirates 8, Mets 2—Unhappy Harvey Day

Harvey had the worst start of his major league career.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Harvey struggled mightily this afternoon in Pittsburgh, and the Mets lost. Harvey gave up seven runs on six hits—two of which were home runs—in just four innings of work. He struck out four and walked two, but in total, it was the worst start of his big league career.

The Mets' bullpen gave up just one run the rest of the way, but the lineup continued to struggle. The Mets struck out ten times against A.J. Burnett, scoring just once against him in the fourth inning. They managed one run against Antonio Bastardo in the eighth, but that didn't really matter.
