Lucas Duda out of Mets lineup today with tight hamstring

The first baseman has been the Mets' best hitter this year.

Mets first baseman Lucas Duda is out of the lineup this afternoon with a tight hamstring. He appeared to tweak it in yesterday's loss to the Pirates. Michael Cuddyer will fill in for him at first base. In 182 plate appearances this season, Duda has hit .293/.385/.478 with 5 home runs and a 145 wRC+. He has been the Mets' best hitter this season, in part because he has fared so well against left-handed pitchers this year.

The number of Mets players hurting or on the disabled list is incredibly high. Vic Black, Jerry Blevins, Buddy Carlyle, Josh Edgin, Dillon Gee, Rafael Montero, Bobby Parnell, Zack Wheeler, Travis d'Arnaud, Dilson Herrera, David Wright, and Cesar Puello are all currently on the major league disabled list, and Juan Lagares is also out of today's lineup with a couple of nagging injuries. Gee should be back soon, d'Arnaud sounds like he'll start a rehab assignment in the coming days, and Black and Parnell are in Binghamton working their way back from arm injuries.
