Juan Lagares scratched from Mets lineup with elbow, pectoral soreness

The center fielder has been dealing with both issues.

Juan Lagares was originally set to play in the Mets' series finale in Pittsburgh this afternoon, but he has been scratched from the team's lineup as he deals with pectoral and elbow soreness. Rookie Darrell Ceciliani will fill in for him in center this afternoon. Lagares has dealt with a balky elbow since last season. The pectoral ailment is something that came up earlier this month.

In forty-one games with the Mets this season, Lagares has played his typical brand of excellent center field defense. He has struggle at the plate, though, hitting just .270/.304/.321. The average and on-base percentage aren't far off from what he did last year, but his power has been down. Still, the Mets are much better off with him on the field than off.

Lagares joins a long list of Mets players either on the disabled list or hurting. Here's hoping neither of his injuries ends up costing him too much time.
