Final Score: Pirates 9, Mets 1—Bucs sweep Mets

The Mets were blown out again in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets' terrible weekend in Pittsburgh wrapped up with another lopsided loss. Jon Niese struggled, allowing four runs in four-and-two-thirds innings and taking 104 pitches to do so. He now has a 4.08 ERA on the season, just a few starts after he had a 1.95 ERA on the season. Erik Goeddel gave up three more runs in one-and-one-third innings, and Sean Gilmartin allowed two runs in two innings.

As if all of that bad pitching wasn't bad enough, the Mets' lineup—hampered by injuries—produced just one run in the game. Francisco Liriano's season had gotten off to bad start, but the Mets did everything they could to right his ship.
