Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (29-19)_______________________________________

Only Alex Castellanos was able to do any serious damage again Sky Sox pitcher Taylor Jungmann. Jungmann had his A-game on yesterday, allowing just four hits while striking out eight over seven innings. Castallanos hit his tenth home run of the season in the fourth inning, and his 14th double in the seventh inning. Matt Bowman had another difficult outing in what has been a disappointing season for him so far.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (25-22)_____________________________________

A two-run double by Aderlin Rodriguez in the sixth inning is all the B-Mets needed behind a dazzling performance from Luis Cessa. Jayce Boyd, who led off that sixth inning with a double and scored the winning run, was promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas after the game.

  • SS Gavin Cecchini: 3-4, 2B; Batting 13-for-40 (.325), 3 2B, 2 HR in last 10 games.
  • 2B Josh Rodriguez: 2-4, K; 9th multi-hit game this month
  • LF Jayce Boyd: 1-4, R, 2B; Promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas after the game. Boyd is a high-contact right-handed bat, but doesn't possess enough pop to be a real impact bat. He's still learning left field after spending his entire career as a 1B/DH. His short stroke and hand-to-eye skills might play a tad better at the MLB level than, say, Eric Campbell, but the positional inflexibility and lack of power limit his ceiling to a bench bat in the majors. Maybe a .250/.310/.350 hitter.
  • DH Dustin Lawley: 1-4, R, K,
  • 1B Aderlin Rodriguez: 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI
  • RF Eudy Pina: 1-3, BB, K
  • RHP Luis Cessa: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER 0 BB, 5 K; 3.09 ERA this season
  • LHP Chase Huchingson: 2 IP 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP
  • RHP Paul Sewald: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K; 8th Save, 1.52 ERA, 0.89 WHIP

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (22-25)_____________________________________

Rob Whalen melted down in the fifth inning as his early two-run lead evaporated. Three batters after surrendering a three-run home run, Whalen was ejected by the home plate umpire for arguing balls and strikes in what was by far his worst outing of the season. Travis d'Arnaud made his second rehab appearance with St. Lucie. He walked, grounded out twice, and then struck out in his final at-bat. Dominic Smith and Amed Rosario continued their red-hot play and tried to set the stage for a ninth-inning, two-out rally as Smith doubled and Rosario singled him home, but Yeixon Ruiz flied out to end the game.

  • REHAB ALERT, DH Travis d'Arnaud: 0-3, RBI, BB, K
  • 3B Jeff McNeil: 2-3, R, 2B, 2 BB; 12-for-23, with 1 HR and 3 2Bs over last 5 games.
  • LF Michael Conforto: 0-5, K; Just 1 for his last 11, but hit a couple very long-fly outs last night.
  • RF Maikis De La Cruz: 0-3, 2 BB, K
  • 1B Dominic Smith: 2-5, R, 2B; 10-game hitting streak, batting .385 over that stretch with 8 doubles.
  • SS Amed Rosario: 2-4, RBI, BB; Batting 21-for-62 (.338) since May 12th
  • 2B Yeixon Ruiz: 1-5, 2 K
  • C Colton Plaia: 2-4, K
  • CF Champ Stuart: 0-4, R, 2 K; Has struck out in 21 straight games going back to April 30th.
  • RHP Rob Whalen: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K; Ejected in 5th inning for arguing balls and strikes.
  • LHP Kelly Secrest: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Jake Kuebler: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Low-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (22-25)__________________________________

Jon Leroux hit a walk-off home run to give the Sand Gnats their third straight win. This game marked the impressive organizational debut of right-handed pitcher Casey Delgado. Delgado, who will turn 25 in June, was recently signed by the Mets out of the independent Frontier League. He pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, striking out seven, and walking three.
