Final Score: Mets 4, Marlins 3—Colon, Tejada lead Mets to victory

The Mets avoided a sweep at the hands of the Marlins with a win at Citi Field this afternoon.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets beat the Marlins 4-3 today, and combined with another Nationals loss, they are just a half-game out of first place in the National League East. Bartolo Colon gave up three runs in seven innings of work, which was pretty good, but he doubled in a run himself in the game, which was incredible.

Although they never trailed in the game, the Mets did cough up a couple of small leads before going ahead for good on a Ruben Tejada double in the seventh. Jeurys Familia recorded five out for the save, and the Mets head to San Diego on a good note, assuming the weather here ever lets them depart.
