David Wright's hamstring injury is nearly fully healed, but he has been suffering from lower back pain over the past few days. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but the Mets are being cautious with Wright, saying he will return when the discomfort subsides. Hamstring issues have often been related to with lower back pain. Injuries have been an issue for the Mets' captain the last few years, as he has not played over 150 games since 2012.

The Mets' lineup would benefit greatly from Wright's return, as the team has struggled to score lately. The silver lining for the Mets has been Dilson Herrera's solid play. The 21-year-old will continue to fill in at second base as Daniel Murphy plays third in Wright's absence. He went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and a home run in the series finale against the Orioles on Wednesday night, and in 17 plate appearances with the Mets this year, he has hit .250/.294/.438 with a 108 wRC+.
