The New York Mets managed to grab a win from the Giants, on the back of a Michael Cuddyer walk-off single. The Giants and Mets played a back-and-forth affair all evening, beginning with the Giants jumping on Jon Niese in the first inning for two runs. Tim Lincecum looked dominant for a while, as the Mets didn't have a hit until the fourth inning, when Travis d'Aranud drove in Lucas Duda on a pop-fly single.
The Mets would grab the lead in the fifth, when Lucas Duda hit a sacrifice fly, and Michael Cuddyer brought Curtis Granderson in on a sharply hit double. That lead wouldn't last long, however, as an Eric Campbell error put Justin Maxwell on base with two outs, and Brandon Crawford put a well-hit ball into the seats. Curtis Granderson would tie it up in the bottom of the frame on a single, and would again be the focus in the ninth, when he was hit by a pitch. Granderson advanced to third, with some drama in between, and Michael Cuddyer slashed a single up the middle for a Mets walk-off win.
