Final Score: Mets 4, Blue Jays 3—Syndergaard shines, Mets win in eleven innings

Wilmer Flores had the game-winning hit in the eleventh.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets trailed by a run in the middle of the eleventh inning, but with two outs in the bottom of the frame, Wilmer Flores hit a walk-off single to score Lucas Duda to win the game. It was one of the Mets' best wins of the year.

Before all that, Noah Syndergaard was outstanding, giving up just a solo home run to Jose Bautista in the first inning in six innings of work. He struck out eleven in the start and made the previously-hot Blue Jays lineup look like nothing special in the process. A pair of Mets doubles in the sixth tied the game and gave them the lead, which held up until Bautista hit a solo home run again leading off the ninth against Jeurys Familia.

In his second inning of work in relief, Hansel Robles gave up a run in the top of the eleventh. But with two outs, Michael Cuddyer scored from first on a bloop double by Lucas Duda to left field, and, well, you already know the rest.
