Matt Harvey is back, baby! The big man threw seven scoreless innings and ripped an RBI double in a nerve-racking but ultimately satisfying Mets win. All Mets wins are satisfying.
Harv was humming tonight. He struck out six, walked none, and generally wasn't hit very hard by the vaunted Blue Jays lineup. The radar gun was popping at 99 mph at times. Unfortunately, his pitch count reached 107 after seven innings, and he gave way to Carlos Torres, who nearly blew it.
Torres allowed four baserunners in just 0.1 innings pitched, giving up two runs in the process. However, a horrendous Blue Jays baserunning blunder in the eighth inning and a five-out save from Bobby Parnell combined to seal the win. Hat tip to Parnell; it was just his third MLB appearance this season.
