Rookie - Kingsport Mets (3-2)__________________________________

KINGSPORT 5, BLUEFIELD 4 (Box)

Rapheal Ramirez hit a walk-off, bases-clearing triple to cap a wild ninth inning in Kingsport's 5-4 win over Bluefield.

Bluefield had managed just one hit as they entered the ninth inning trailing 1-0, but Mets 2015 tenth-round pick Witt Haggard had quite a wild professional debut. He struck out his first batter, then walked the next two. Haggard got a ground ball for the second out, but then loaded the bases with another walk, and walked in the tying run. He was lifted and replaced by Joe Shaw, who immediately gave up a three-run double to DJ McKnight, putting Bluefield ahead 4-1.

Kingsport's rally in the bottom of the ninth began with Kevin Kaczmarski's one-out double. Arnaldo Berrios was then hit by a pitch and pinch hitter Darryl Knight walked to load the bases. Dionus Rodriguez then walked to score Kaczmarski which cut the lead to 4-2. With the bases still jammed, Ramirez clubbed a triple to center field that brought everyone home, with Rodriguez crossing the plate as the winning run.

The ninth-inning fireworks overshadowed a strong effort from Kingsport starter Darwin Ramos, who permitted just one hit in six innings. He struck out five and walked one batter.
