Mets activate Daniel Murphy from disabled list, option Dilson Herrera to Vegas

Murphy is in the Mets' lineup tonight.

Daniel Murphy has been activated from the disabled list and will join the Mets tonight for the start of their three-game series with the Cubs. Dilson Herrera has been optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas. Murphy has been out since going down with strained quadriceps back on June 5.

In 55 games this year, Murphy has hit .283/.335/.414 with four home runs, which makes him one of the Mets' better hitters this season. He is set to play third base, with Wilmer Flores playing at second base and Ruben Tejada at shortstop. Murphy seems ready to rejoin the Mets. In his last two games with the St. Lucie Mets, he went 6-for-9 with two RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored.

After starting the year well in Vegas, Herrera got a promotion to the Mets. But in 93 plate appearances with the team, he has hit just .195/.290/.317 with two home runs and spent his time in the field at second base.
