The Mets trade rumors started flying yesterday, as reports indicated interest in Justin Upton and Carlos Gomez. Shortstop Jean Segura is not on the radar.

Michael Cuddyer was out of the Mets lineup yesterday but his balky knee wasn't the reason.

Terry Collins talked about his ejection last night, saying that his team is in a pennant race.

Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, and Noah Syndergaard will match up with the Nationals next week.

Erik Goeddel is throwing in Port St. Lucie, while Travis d'Arnaud is swinging and catching.

Chris Young was a trainwreck for the Mets last year but he isn't thinking about them during a strong season in the Bronx.

Around the NL East

The Braves beat the Cubs 4-2 last night, on the same day in which Atlanta extended manager Fredi Gonzalez's contract and also added former Nationals pitcher Ross Detwiler.

Washington picked up a half game on the Mets, though only because the lights decided not to function properly at Nationals Park.

Jose Fernandez was good early but the Marlins fell to the Phillies 6-3. The big news for the Phillies was the announcement that pitching prospect Aaron Nola would come up to the big leagues. For Miami, it was that Dee Gordon hit the DL with his dislocated thumb.

Around the Majors

The Reds might trade a lot of players like Johnny Cueto, Mike Leake, and Jay Bruce.

Pedro Martinez surmises that 60 percent of big leaguers used performance enhancing drugs when he was pitching.

Number one overall pick Dansby Swanson signed with the Diamondbacks. Meanwhile, the Dodgers signed first rounder Walker Buehler, who apparently looks like he'll need Tommy John surgery.

Kyle Schwarber is back up for the Cubs and had 3 hits but also 2 errors.

This Date In Mets History
