Final Score: Nationals 7, Mets 2—Harvey struggles, Mets lose

Matt Harvey gave up a few runs, but the Mets only scored two.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Mets lost to the Nationals this evening. Matt Harvey struggled early, allowing five runs through the first three innings of the game before settling in and completing seven innings without giving up more. Harvey drove in a couple of runs, too, but those were the Mets' only runs of the night, thanks in large part to an excellent defensive game by the Nationals.

Alex Torres gave up a two-run home run in the eighth, further endearing him to his detractors. And the Mets are now three games behind Washington in the National League East.
