Michael Conforto could be on the way to the Mets soon, as Michael Cuddyer's knee feels exactly the same and he may need a DL trip. At least Travis d'Arnaud appears close to beginning another rehab assignment.

Another option for the offense could be a trade for Oakland's Ben Zobrist, who the Mets have discussed with Oakland in a deal for Rafael Montero. Gerardo Parra of the Brewers would be another quality acquisition.

Should they make it there, would this Mets team have the worst playoff offense ever? They might be pinning their hopes on miracles. As it stands, their offense is currently worse than the horrid 1962 team.

Generation K could be a cautionary tale for the current Mets pitchers. It's pretty interesting to see the former phenoms' takes on the current group of Mets pitchers.

Around the NL East

The Rays spoiled Aaron Nola's debut, as they blanked the Phillies 1-0 thanks to pitcher Nathan Karns' home run. Karns is the first AL pitcher to homer in 4 years and the first to account for the only run in a game with a home run since 1962.

Chris Johnson and the Braves beat the Dodgers 4-3. Johnson is frustrated and hoping the Braves trade him. Freddie Freeman could return to the Braves next week.

The Marlins and Diamondbacks played late last night. Dan Jennings confirmed that Dan Haren is involved in trade rumors.

Nationals outfielder Michael Taylor has robbed the Mets a few times and the outfielder is apparently one of the best defenders in the league.

Around the Majors

Hooray, Barry Bonds! The Federal Government finally dropped their case against the greatest home run hitter of all time after wasting more than $6 million on it.

Did the second wild card ruin the trade deadline?

Here are some trades that should happen by July 31st. One of them involves the Mets and Dodgers.

Jason Vargas returned to the Royals and then left his start with an elbow injury. Opening Day starter Yordano Ventura was demoted to the minors to make room.

This Date In Mets History

It was this day in 1986 when Ray Knight and the Reds' Eric Davis brawled.

Yesterday At AA

We closed out our midseason prospects list with Brandon Nimmo and the aforementioned Michael Conforto. Ben Margolin made the case for Conforto's promotion to the Mets.

We also took a look back at Jacob deGrom's best starts of the first half.
