The Mets took a tough loss against the Nationals 4-3 as Bobby Parnell coughed up a late lead to the bottom part of the Washington lineup. The blown hold lost a win for starter Noah Syndergaard, who labored through five innings but gave up only one run.
The bullpen had been on an excellent run of shutting down opposing hitters, but Parnell's scuffle really couldn't have come at a worse time. Nationals Park continues to be Parnell's hell, as he now has an ERA of almost nine in D.C. Still, the Mets were lucky to even have a lead at that point of the game given Syndergaard's five walks.
The loss drops the Mets to three games out of first place and ends their road trip at 2-4.
